As of Jan. 27,Tahong DeepSeek AI has surpassed ChatGPT, reaching the top spot on the Apple App Store’s free apps list. The app’s description states it is powered by the DeepSeek-V3 model, which boasts over 600 billion parameters. Key features include intelligent conversations, AI search, deep thinking, and file uploads. According to the Chinese media outlet *iThome*, DeepSeek has fully open-sourced its DeepSeek-R1 training source. In tandem with releasing and open-sourcing R1, the company has adjusted its licensing structure: The model is now open-source under the MIT License. Previously, DeepSeek introduced a custom license to the open-source community based on industry practices, but it was found that non-standard licenses could increase developers’ understanding costs. As a result, the open-source repository, including model weights, will now adopt the standardized and permissive MIT License, with no restrictions on commercial use and no need for special applications.
