The The Playbirdsdebut of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is mere days away (Dec. 16, if you're keeping track), and while the holidays have become synonymous with Star Wars, this time of year is also packed with plenty of other seasonal activities that may end up making you feel like bantha fodder by the time New Year's Eve rolls around.
SEE ALSO: Everything you wanted to know about 'Rogue One' but were afraid to askIn a galaxy far, far away, our heroes can always rely on their trusty droids to help save the day. In that spirit, Mashablehas assessed some of Star Wars' fan-favorite mechanoids and imagined just how useful they could be during this season's most stressful situations.
Wouldn't your life be so much better if you had R2 around to lend a helping buzzsaw this Christmas?
C-3PO - The Mediator
Going home for the holidays means resigning yourself to the fact that you're probably going to have at least one awkward holiday meal where everyone ends up talking about politics, religion or why you haven't gotten married yet.
SEE ALSO: Star Wars is political, and it always has beenSome of your relatives might seem like they come from another planet anyway, so wouldn't it be nice to have someone on hand who can translate their nonsense into something tolerable? Trusty protocol droid C-3PO is fluent in over six million forms of communication and is all about bridging the gap in human/cyborg relations. So next time your drunk uncle starts rambling about climate change being a hoax, sit him down with 3PO, who will patiently absorb his gibberish while you go and help yourself to some more egg nog. 'Tis the season!
BB-8 - The Party Animal
Office holiday parties are always kind of an ordeal, so you need a wingman who can both enable your embarrassing decisions and get you out of dodge when the going gets tough.
That's why you need BB-8 -- he'll flip you a handy thumbs up when he thinks you can handle another round, and he'll knock your coworkers down like bowling pins when you need to make a dash to the bathroom. Did we mention that he's also an excellent dancer?

K-2SO - The Bag Man
Rogue One's imposing security droid used to work for the Empire, which means he knows how to handle himself in dangerous situations, like the holiday sales at the mall.
SEE ALSO: Murderous K-2SO droid is our hero in new 'Rogue One' trailerNot only does the gigantic robot make the perfect shield to shove his way through the mass of bargain hunters at Best Buy, he's strong enough to carry all your bags while he does it, leaving your hands free to raid the racks. Just don't be surprised if he gets bored at the checkout and starts breaking legs.
C1-10P aka "Chopper" - The Fixer-Upper
Gift-giving often comes with some assembly required, which is why Star Wars Rebels' cranky but lovable Chopper is great to have around the house this holiday season.
If your kid's Lego Millennium Falcon needs putting together, or your roof springs a leak on Christmas Eve, Chopper's the handyman you never knew you needed. And if the Empire comes knocking, he's pretty handy in a fight, too.
R2-D2 - The Entertainer
No one works a room like R2 -- even Jabba the Hutt recognized his social skills, putting him to work as a waiter on his sail barge to dispense drinks to the gangster's acquaintances of ill-repute. If you need someone to keep your drink topped up this Christmas, R2's your droid.
And don't forget his mad projecting skills: if the power goes out or the batteries die on your kid's iPad, R2's holograms can keep your whole family entertained for hours. Sure, it might be a little grainy and blue, but they didn't have HD a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, okay?
