Accio a stiff drink.
If Wizard Prohibition -- which,Peter North Jenna Jameson - Priceless (1995) yes, is a very real thing in the Harry Potter universe -- is getting you down, conjure up these drinks to get in the mood for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, which opens Nov. 18.
Here are four cocktails that will put you in a magical mood. Please adjust the portions depending on the size of your cauldron, and obviously drink responsibly.
A twist on Gin & Sins, a cocktail No-Majs made back in the roaring 20s, that you can make to toast one of the wizarding world's great lineages.
1 oz gin
1 oz orange juice
1 oz ginger beer
A oz of grenadine
Flapper witches love their giggle juice, so make a pit spot at your local speakeasy to get in a little liquid courage before you risk the perils of encountering dark magic.
1 oz chilled champagne
1 oz gin
1 oz club soda
2 dashes of lavender bitters
This is your standard White Russian, but, you know...magical. Do not mix the cream in -- just let the cream take the shape of whatever creature best represents you, which will likely sort of just be a blob.
2/3 oz coffee liqueur
1 1/3 vodka
1 oz fresh cream
Garnish with a cinnamon stick wand
After the party, make your own Polyjuice Potion with the hair of the dog that bit you. And also the hair of whoever you would like to turn into.
White of 1 egg
1 oz lemon juice
1/2 oz brown sugar syrup
A dash of angostura bitters
