Samsung's new foldable phone,Kairaku Jigoku no Toriko (2019) the Galaxy Z Flip, was finally revealed at its Unpacked event on Tuesday after a bombardment of leaks.
Samsung said the Galaxy Z Flip will be available on Feb. 14 for $1,380. That makes it $120 cheaper the new Razr. It also comes in three colors: Mirror Black, Mirror Purple, and Mirror Gold in some countries. Samsung claims you can fold and unfold it 200,000 times without sacrificing durability.
When it's closed, you'll see essentials like time and text messages on the exterior display.
It's also got a hole-punch camera, which Samsung said is the first of its kind in a foldable phone.
For that price, you get a 6.7-inch screen, a 3,300mAh battery, a 10MP selfie camera, and two 12MP rear cameras. On top of all that, you get 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The Galaxy Z Flip does not appear to support 5G like the Galaxy S20 line. It's also got something called "Flex Mode," in which the top half of the screen can display one thing and the bottom half can display another. For example, you could watch YouTube up top, and leave a comment on the bottom.
Here's hoping Samsung's second try at a foldable phone works out better than the first one.
