On Sunday night, watch Lady Chatterley's Daughter (2011) mother from Columbus, Georgia, met one officer of the law who did not approve of her public breastfeeding.
Savvy Shukla shared her experience on Facebook when she encountered a police officer who was not pleased with her breastfeeding her one month old at a local supermarket.
As she left Piggly Wiggly, the man approached Shukla, telling her to cover up as some might be "offended" by her exposure - allegedly even indicating he would arrest her for indecent exposure.
Though Shukla repeated Georgia state law back to the officer, stating she can breastfeed "however most comfortable where [she wants] as long as [she's] authorized to be there," the cop insisted she only "THINK[S]" she knows the law, and was actually in violation.
After arguing to no avail, Shukla finally got angry enough to walk away and posted on Facebook about her encounter. The status has accrued over 12,000 shares.
Shukla has since reported the situation to her local police.
"I actually was able to talk to the Sheriff and make the formal complaint," she told Mashable. "They're currently doing an investigation on the situation."
And don't worry, Shukla was notphased by this officer.
"I will continue to breastfeed uncovered and in public like I have been for last 20 months," she told us, referring to how she reared her older child.
You do you, mom.
