Tesla is Pinoy Archivesnow taking its solar-powered ambitions on the road in Australia, showing off its energy products in the form of a fully-functional miniature house on wheels in a series of tour stops around the country.
The Tesla Tiny House is outfitted with a system of six solar panels and one of the company's Powerwall batteries for energy storage, making it 100 percent powered by renewable energy sources, according to Tesla. The structure houses a mobile design studio and configurator, so visitors can check out how the house's solar systems could work in their own homes on the spot with some guidance from Tesla employees.
The whole setup weighs about two tons, and is being hauled from location to location by a Model X, making the whole endeavor a completely clean energy affair.
The Tiny House is built out of locally-sourced, chemical-free timber, keeping with the sustainable theme.
Tesla is based in the US, but the company has its sights set on Australia for its solar energy goals since the country has such an abundance of sunny days and a fast-growing solar energy sector.
The Australian market was one of the first to receive the Powerwall 2, and Elon Musk famously made a bet on Twitter that Tesla could stabilize South Australia's power grid within just 100 days using the tech. He followed up on his bet last month, announcing plans to create a battery grid-scale energy storage system to power more than 30,000 homes, with a December target completion date.
The Tiny House's first stop is in Melbourne’s Federation Square, according to Electrek, with plans to post up in other major Australian cities through October. Tesla is giving its fans a chance to request a Tiny House visit in their own town on its website, however, so the company might be spreading its clean energy gospel even further across the country.
