While being inside a police car isn't something a sane person would look forward to, they just might look forward to hopping in this bad boy.
A BMW i8 sports car, in full police livery, has just been added to the New South Wales Police Force fleet in Australia. What a bunch of show offs.
The petrol-electric hybrid engine boasts 357 horsepower (266 kilowatts) and can go from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in a delightfully brisk 4.4 seconds.
You won't need to worry about the A$300,000 ($232,00) car creeping up behind you on a highway, however. The sports car will mostly be used at community events.
"This BMW is the latest in a number of different vehicles that we have utilised at Rose Bay Local Area Command to raise awareness and engage with the community," Rose Bay Police Commander, Superintendent Bradley Hodder, said in a statement online.
"It is a great community engagement tool that will be used at a number of police events to showcase the role police play in the community," he added.
As one would hope, the car doesn't come at a cost to the taxpayer. It's a loan covered by a local BMW dealership.
It's not the first time NSW Police have had fancy cars to show off.
Last year, a McLaren 650S and an Aston Martin Vanquish Volante were also used for promotional purposes by a Sydney force.
