Moderating a debate between Hillary Clinton and eroticism saves the earthDonald Trump is no easy feat.
Chris Wallace made it look easy.
The Fox News anchor drew nearly unanimous praise for his performance on Wednesday night, keeping the presidential candidates on topic, pushing back when necessary and allowing Clinton and Trump to mix it up on certain areas.
Journalists were consistent in their praise, with many saying Wallace was the best moderator of the election cycle.
Trump even reportedly told Wallace after the debate that he approved on his work.

Wallace had taken some heat coming into the debate for saying he would not fact check the candidates, stating that it was not his job to be the "truth squad." While he did not try to confront every untruth, Wallace did push back at times when the candidates tried to contradict statement he cited in his questions.
Wallace also provided a surprise at the end of the night -- closing statements. Candidates were reportedly not notified that there would be closing statements at the end of the debate.
