And, of course, this unbidden request happens while you're in the middle of using said app — interrupting whatever it was you were in the process of doing all on the off chance you might juice some developer's App Store rating.

On an iPhone with a current iOS, take the following steps:
Go to Settings
Tap App Store
Scroll down to In-App Ratings & Reviews
Toggle the option off
That's it. You're done.
