Local media reported that the Lake Cathie man was en route to the local garbage depot to dispose of his spring cleaning clutter.
What he didn't count on was a goddamn spider hopping on his arm, prompting what he thought to be the safest course of action -- slamming on the brakes. Unfortunately for both parties, the man mistook the brake pedal for the accelerator.

"I meant to hit the brake but instead I accidentally hit the accelerator," he told Port News.
The mix up in pedals meant that he and his car careened into the lake, narrowly avoiding nearby trees.
Luckily, the man emerged unharmed, though a little soaked. Another innocent car, taken too soon by the blight that is the huntsman.
